How does the Bub & Bloom Birthing Masterclass Work?

The Bub & Bloom programme has been developed over the last 20 years. After teaching HypnoBirthing and then Calmbirth until 2018, the Bub & Bloom workshop has taken wings of it’s own and provides you with a carefully crafted birth education programme.

The Bub & Bloom Birthing program draws is foundation from the obstetrician Dr Grantly Dick Read ( 1889- 1959).

Dr. Dick Read wrote the book Childbirth without fear and discovered that reduction in fear relates directly with a reduction in pain or pain perception.

Whilst you cannot avoid all sources of stress in you life, we can develop healthier ways of responding to stress and fear. The first step is learning to breathe correctly. The second step is to be mindful and learn how to access your birthing zone through meditation, hypnosis and subconscious relaxation.

  • During your Bub & Bloom Classes you will both be taught how to evoke a 'parasympathetic response' by tapping into the subconscious resources we all naturally possess. This is not only for the birth of your baby, but for all life situations.

  • Classes also outline the physiology of your birthing body, emphasizing the role of the muscles, nervous system and hormones prior to, during and after the birth of your baby.

  • Breathing techniques are also taught for their powerful effect on the body. You can utilize these skills very effectively during labour and birth, oxygenating the uterus, diminishing pain, inducing calm.

  • You will be able to bring back focus so that all situations can be met with calm insight and understanding.

  • In short, Bub & Bloom allows you to experience birth in an atmosphere of calm relaxation, free of the fear.

Birthing Workshops

The Bub & Bloom Birthing Masterclass is a group workshop is led by Lainey. She is a versed and dynamic speaker and runs workshops for couples in an informative and engaging forum. Many of you will have been referred via your obstetrician or midwife and other happy prior attendants.

Often couples attend after a previous caesarean, wanting skills to prepare for a Vaginal Birth after Caesarean (VBAC). Maybe others have had less than optimal previous birth experiences. Others arrive to the workshop with preconceived ideas about birth after hearing many horror stories escalating their levels or fear and anxiety about birth. During and after the workshop, the groups develop a sense of ‘camaraderie’ that helps to dispel many concerns as you move towards a joyful and calm birth.

Maddy’s birth

I have been out and about and telling everyone and anyone that will listen to me all Lainey’s bub and bloom, and how fantastic it is! After discovering that it existed, and reading as much information as I could find about it, I mentioned it to my Midwife, and asked her if she knew any women that had used it. She told me that not only had she heard of it, one of the Birth Centre Midwives was a qualified teacher, and so we met Lainey.

We had wanted a fairly “normal” natural pregnancy, labour and birth, hence our decision to ... Read More

Lily Mae's Birth

A calming approach to preparing mind, body and spirit for the birth of our little miracle. Thanks to Lainey we felt at ease with the labour ahead and welcomed our beautiful Lily Mae into the world in 3 hours. Lainey’s approach to birth is holistic, her touch was both professional and loving throughout our time together antenatally and as a family.

Campbell's Birth

The birth of our little boy is by far the best I have ever had, thanks to the techniques I learnt from your class. As hoped, it was completely natural and drug free and couldn’t have been more different from my two prior birth experiences.

I arrived at the hospital at 4.30am when my contractions were 6 minutes apart and CJ was born at 9.30am. I spent the first hour drinking tea with the midwives at their desk, breathing through contractions as they ...Read More
